Maui Fishes

The following are Maui fishes that we commonly catch on our Maui Fishing Charters:

  1. Blueline Snapper
  2. UKU (Gray Snapper) A prized catch ($40/plate at Mama’s Fish House.)
  3. Ulua (Giant Trevally)
  4. Blue Fin Trevally (Omilu)We often practice conservation by participating in the state ulua tagging project whichncludes ulua, milu, goldspot trevally, amberjack (Kahala), and others
  5. Gold Spot Trevally

  7. Black Durgeon Triggerfish
  8. Pink Tail Triggerfish
  9. Hawaiian HogfishThe HogFish is only found in Hawaiiwaters.

When trolling to and from the bottom fishing spots we drag artificial lures to try to catch other fish like Mahimahi, Ono, Tuna like the skipjack (Aku), yellowfin (Ahi), wavyback (Kawakawa), and occasionally even Marlin. We actually did catch a 350+ pounder on the way to the bottom fishing spotabout two years ago. Rarely we will also catch barracuda, bluefin trevally, and giant trevally while trolling.
